Biography

SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Glens announced today that Adrian Medina has re-signed with the club for the 2023 USL League Two season, pending league approval.

The San Francisco native earned the captaincy in 2022 and his leadership on and off the field was invaluable in steering the Glens to their first ever appearance in the League Two national playoffs. However, a midseason injury sustained after scoring in the team’s resounding 4-1 win over SF City FC in the San Francisco Derby sidelined him for the rest of the campaign.

After a lengthy rehab period, however, he has fully recovered, and the Stuart Hall graduate is eager to return to his hometown after an eventful spring season with Cal State Bakersfield.

“I'm super excited to be coming back home and playing for the club,” said Medina. “Unfortunately, last year my time was cut short due to my injury. But the job's not finished, so I can't wait to come back home and play for my city. Up The Glens!”

The playmaker’s time in Bakersfield with the Roadrunners was preceded by a stint at San Francisco State where he earned All-CCAA Honorable Mention in 2021 after scoring four goals and notching two assists.

Medina also played club soccer for his father, Antonio, at Bay City FC, where he has excelled on the futsal court and was even named to the U.S. National Futsal Team for the World Cup.

“I've known Adrian since he was a kid and I'm so excited we get to announce him as our captain again,” said Glens head coach Gabe Saucedo. “He's committed, hard-working, and he's motivated. He's going to make everyone around him better, and that's how we define leadership. He has some unfinished business dealing with injuries and has persevered to get back to where he is now. I'm looking forward to watching him have a great season with us.”
