Biography

SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Glens announced today that Bridgette Marin-Valencia has signed with the club for the 2023 USL W League season, pending league approval.

The San Francisco Bayview native will be coming home to The City after a tremendous 2022 that included starting in both the FIFA Under-20 World Cup for Mexico and the NCAA College Cup final as a freshman with her UCLA Bruins capturing the national championship.

“I’ll be playing for my home city this summer for SF Glens,” said Marin-Valencia. “Incredible teammates and incredible coaches. It’s going to be a vibe this summer. Up the Glens!”

Marin-Valencia finished her first regular season at UCLA with one start, two goals and two assists but came on strong during the Bruins’ title run, starting the national quarterfinal, semifinal and final. She followed that magical streak with a call-up to the U20 World Cup, where she started all four games for El Tri Femenil en route to the quarterfinals.

The past year has been a whirlwind for Marin-Valencia, who was coming off high school graduation at Immaculate Conception Academy. At club level, she starred for PSV Union where she was once called to the U.S. Youth National Team. Now it all comes full circle as she returns to San Francisco to play for the Glens.

“I’m excited to add another local talent to our Glens squad this summer in Bridgette,” said Glens head coach Mike Sharabi. “Starting and winning a national championship game is something most players just dream about. She’s also represented Mexico at the U20 World Cup. We will be counting on her to bring that winning mentality to our trainings and matches. I’m very much looking forward to working with her.”
