Biography

SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Glens announced today that Eliot Jones has re-signed with the club for the 2023 USL League Two season, pending league approval.

Joining the club midseason last year, the Stanford goalkeeper made an immediate impact. Jones started his Glens career with three consecutive clean sheets and saved his best for the postseason.

With the Glens tied 2-2 late in the second half with top-seeded Capital FC, he saved a penalty kick and a header from point-blank range. San Francisco would emerge moments later with the game-winning goal to punch their first ever trip to the Western Conference Semifinals.

“After last year's historic run, I couldn't wait to do it all over again,” said Jones. “Excited to get back to work. Up the Glens!”

Jones will aim for another big season in San Francisco to serve as a platform for his senior campaign at Stanford, where he has already been part of a Pac-12 Conference championship team and earned Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll honors.

A native of New Britain, Connecticut, Jones starred at club level for the New England Revolution Academy, captaining the Under-19 MLS NEXT side and being invited to preseason training with the first team. He also played five games for the U.S. Youth National Team at the younger age levels.

“If you have a great keeper, they will always keep you in the game or win you games,” said Glens head coach Gabe Saucedo. “He comes up big in big situations. He made our players really confident and I'm so excited to have him back.”
