Biography

SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Glens announced today that Julio González Ponce has re-signed with the club for the 2023 USL League Two season, pending league approval.

A graduate of San Francisco’s Mission High School after immigrating from La Libertad, El Salvador, the forward introduced himself to The City’s soccer circles with an astounding 44 goals in two seasons for the Bears. 

After earning SF High School Player of the Year honors from multiple outlets, González Ponce committed to San Francisco State, where in three seasons, he has amassed 37 starts, seven goals, and six assists with an All-CCAA Honorable Mention nod in 2022.

“I’m really happy to be coming back to play with this amazing team and coaches this summer,” González Ponce said. “I really hope I can see you all soon. Up the Glens!”

Now entering his third USL League Two season with the Glens, González Ponce is aiming to add to his totals of three goals and four assists.

“Julio’s a dynamic, creative, smart player who is fun to watch,” said Glens head coach Gabe Saucedo. “I’m excited to see him compete for a starting spot, earn his minutes, and have some big moments like he has in the past for us.”
