Biography

SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Glens announced today that Kathryn Kelly has signed with the club for the 2023 USL W League season, pending league approval.

A veteran of several U.S. Youth national Team training camps, Kelly entered her freshman season at UCLA last year as the No. 7 overall recruit in the country according to TopDrawerSoccer. She now becomes the fourth Bruin to join the Glens after Mexico Under-20 National Team forwards America Frias and Bridgette Marin-Valencia, as well as U.S. U20 National Team camp attendee Julia Saunicheva.

“I can’t wait for this summer to be joining the SF Glens this summer and getting the amazing opportunity to play with some elite players and coaches,” said Kelly. “So ‘Up the Glens’ and I’ll see you all soon!”

Originally from Belmont, California, the Carlmont High School graduate enjoyed an illustrious club career with San Jose Earthquakes Academy, and later, Bay Area Surf, winning three combined national championships.

“Kathryn is a solid defender who brings a championship pedigree with her to the Glens,” said Glens head coach Mike Sharabi. “We plan on being extremely organized defensively this summer and Kathryn is going to play a big role in that. Welcome to the Glens!”

“Kathryn Kelly is a veteran on our back line,” added Glens assistant coach Heath Piper, who coached her at club level. “She is a solid technical center back that has a high soccer IQ and is super calm under pressure. She gives us the ability to play out of the back and keep the ball limiting our transition moments. She knows our system very well.”
