SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Glens announced today that Kei Kitamura has signed with the club for the 2023 USL W League season, pending league approval.
A gifted midfielder with excellent vision and passing ability, the Cal midfielder is coming off her first season with the Golden Bears.
“I’m so excited to be joining the SF Glens this summer,” said Kitamura, “and I can’t wait to play in the inaugural W League season. Up the Glens!”
Originally from San Jose, California, the Archbishop Mitty graduate had a stellar club career with the San Jose Earthquakes Academy and De Anza Force. After one season where she scored seven goals and notched 20 assists, she joined Cal as part of the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation in 2021.
“Kei is a quality midfielder who is consistently looking to make her teammates better,” said Glens head coach Mike Sharabi. “We will be looking for her to bring that playmaking ability to the Glens this season.”
“Kei is a super intelligent player that understands the game very well,” added Glens assistant coach Heath Piper, who coached her at club level. “She is creative and dangerous in the final third. She has the technical ability to find her teammates in tight spaces and can make the difficult passes.”
