The San Francisco Glens will enter the 2020 USL League Two season with a new schedule, new head coach, and new venue.

Entering their third season after finishing above the league average in attendance in each of their first two campaigns, the Glens are slated to play their home games at Skyline College.

“This was a decision we did not take lightly, especially given our club’s long-standing ties to Boxer Stadium,” said Glens executive director Mike McNeill. “But we’re excited to have a venue with the flexibility that Skyline provides in terms of what we can do for our fans’ overall experience as well as for our players on and off the field.”

The Glens have held their practices at Skyline each of the past two seasons. The familiarity of the field and now access to the surrounding facilities will essentially give the club a true home base this season. Glens associate head coach Gabe Saucedo also doubles as the head coach at Skyline.

Despite the move for the USL League Two team, the Glens’ connection to Boxer Stadium will remain. San Francisco’s second and third teams in the SFSFL’s Premier and Majors Divisions, respectively, will continue to compete at the historic ground.

“We are always focused on doing what’s best for the club and its players in the short- and long-term,” said first-year head coach Jimmy Conrad. “So the ability to hold our trainings at Skyline and then have our actual games there, too, which will allow us to create that all-important home-field advantage, is truly the best-case scenario for us from a competitive standpoint and I hope that will become evident as the season plays out.”

The Glens open the season at Kezar Stadium in the San Francisco Derby against SF City FC. Their home schedule begins May 31 at Skyline and features contests against Southwest Division rivals FC Golden State Force, Ventura County Fusion, Santa Cruz Breakers, SoCal Seahorses, and a derby rematch with SF City on June 19. It will also include two midseason friendlies for the first time; both opponents, dates, and times are TBD.
