SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- San Francisco Glens Under-19 forward Declan O'Flynn has signed a National Letter of Intent to play his college soccer at Dominican University of California.

O'Flynn, who has been a part of the club since the SF Glens Academy opened its doors in 2011 with just two Under-11 teams, will now head to the North Bay to play for the Penguins. Since 2019, the Glens have now had 29 players go from their Pathway Pyramid to either college or a pro contract.

"If you told me when I first put on the Glens jersey all those years ago that I’d have the opportunity to play in college, I wouldn’t believe you," O'Flynn said.

The San Francisco native enjoyed some marquee moments during his time with the club. Last spring, O'Flynn made his USL League Two First Team debut in a friendly against the San Jose Earthquakes U19 team. Two months later, he was in Europe, scoring the winning goal to send the Glens to the Donosti Cup final at LaLiga club Real Sociedad's Zubieta training grounds. And last fall, he was a part of the Glens' U19 team that upset the Folsom Lake Earthquakes, then-No. 2 ranked in the state, to win the S.F. Mayor's Cup Final.

"To see all the hard work pay off is incredible," O'Flynn said. "I want to thank my family, friends, club, coaches, teammates, and [Glens executive director] Mike McNeill for helping me get to this day. Up the Glens!"
