Early penalty kick sets tone for upset-minded Marin FC in 1-2 result

MATCH STATS

The San Francisco Glens came close to completing an epic comeback but fell just short in a 2-1 defeat to Marin FC Legends at Skyline College on Saturday afternoon.

An early mistake in the box led to a penalty kick for Marin FC in the opening seconds. Forward Luke Raley subsequently converted to give the visitors the early lead. In the 28th minute, Raley found Owen Benson who slotted the ball past Glens goalkeeper Hugo Dutour to double the advantage.

The Glens would answer before halftime as a pass from right back Eric Pearce reached center back Shayan Charalaghi, who scored to pull one back in the 43rd minute.

However, though San Francisco outshot Marin FC a staggering 16-5, they could not produce an equalizer in the final 45 minutes.

The Glens now head to Davis Legacy on Wednesday to commence a four-game road trip and hopefully right the ship.
