The San Francisco Glens extended their unbeaten streak to five games with a 1-1 home draw with Oakland Roots Project 51O at Skyline College.

A controversial call gave the visitors the early lead in the 15th minute when Oakland defender Josh Redfield collided into Glens goalkeeper Hugo Dutour, who was holding the ball and subsequently backpedaled into his own net. 

San Francisco almost answered right before halftime. The newly returned Nathan Simeon's cross from the right wing found Andy Velásquez but the midfielder skied the ball over the post.

In the second half, the Glens controlled the pace and possession, creating several chances for an equalizer. Above all, Junior Mahi's effort from the left wing for the far post rolled just wide.

But San Francisco would finally even the score in the 76th minute, as Velasquez would connect with Shayan Charalaghi on a free kick that the defender headed in the back of the net.

Splitting the points meant the Glens would ultimately lose their hold on first place in the Southwest Division title race to the surging SoCal Seahorses. However, it also signified that San Francisco now holds the table tiebreaker over Oakland by virtue of defeating them earlier this season on the road.
