NAIA Honorable Mention All-American brings scoring prowess to back line

SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Glens Soccer Club announced today that defender Gianna Yslava has signed on for the 2023 USL W League season, pending league approval.

An NAIA Honorable Mention All-American and United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team member at the College of Idaho, she tallied 13 goals and an additional four assists in 2022 despite playing from the back line. The Yotes set school records for goals scored and wins during the campaign as Yslava was also named the Cascade Collegiate Conference’s Newcomer of the Year.

“I’m so excited to join the SF Glens this summer and have the opportunity to play with some former teammates and amazing coaches,” said Yslava. “I’ll see you all out there soon. Up the Glens!”

A native of San Jose, California and Wilcox High School graduate, she will reunite with several of her club teammates at the San Jose Earthquakes Academy and Bay Area Surf that won three combined national championships.

“Gianna is coming off a great collegiate season where she earned NAIA All American honors," said Glens head coach Mike Sharabi. "We expect she will have an immediate impact in our squad and are looking forward to seeing her in action."

The San Francisco Glens are entering their first USL W League season in the NorCal Division. Open tryouts will take place March 12 at Skyline College. Register now at sfglens.com/tryouts.
