SAN BRUNO, Calif. — The San Francisco Glens defeated Academica 3-1 at Skyline College on Wednesday evening in USL League Two.
As the end of the season looms closer, the fight for points has become even more fierce. Six points from the final two matches are likely necessary for the Glens to secure a spot in the League Two playoffs this season, but they took that first step with Wednesday's victory over Academica. The match was tightly contested, but two first-half goals from Nonso Adimabua were enough to give the Glens a halftime lead. Academica pulled one back as the fog rolled in at the end of the second half, but a calm chip from Diogo Baptista secured the points.
The Glens now travel to Kezar Stadium on Sunday for a monumental final-day clash with rivals SF City FC, with a playoff spot and potentially even the division title on the line.
