Celebrate the Grand Opening of the New Glens Facility at Glens Fest, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM

SAN FRANCISCO (October 24th, 2024) — The San Francisco Glens Soccer Club have announced that a celebratory festival will be held in honor of the newly opened field on Treasure Island this Sunday, October 27th, 2024.

Glens Fest will be a vibrant celebration of soccer, Bay Area sports culture, and community spirit and will mark a monumental milestone for the club as well as its players, families, and fans. The festival will run from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will feature activations from a variety of industry leaders, including Bay FC, Guinness, COPA Soccer Training Center, Academy of Art University, MLS Go and others.

The Glens will be welcoming Mayor London Breed and Supervisor Matt Dorsey, whose support was key to the development of the Treasure Island facility. A brief grand-opening ceremony, including remarks from the Mayor and a photo opportunity, will be held from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM. The Glens will also recognize distinguished community members for their outstanding contributions to the club in recent years.

In addition to the ceremony, Glens Fest will offer an array of activities for all ages, including live soccer matches and demonstrations, food and drink, music, and a family fun zone filled with games and interactive experiences.

“Glens Fest is not only a celebration of our new facility but of the community and passion that drives soccer in this part of the country," said Mike McNeill, Executive Director of the San Francisco Glens. "Our vision is for this space to become a hub for soccer in the Bay Area as well as a focal point of community engagement in the future.”

The new facility on Treasure Island features a FIFA-certified main pitch and three 5v5 training fields, making it ideal not only for official Glens matches but also for international friendlies, concerts, and other events. With breathtaking views of San Francisco’s skyline and easy access to downtown, the facility is set to become a premier sports hub and a key addition to the region’s athletic infrastructure, with the 2026 World Cup bringing matches to the Bay Area. Future plans include the installation of a 1,500-capacity grandstand, locker rooms, floodlights, scoreboards, and other quality amenities.
