SAN FRANCISCO, CA (February 27, 2025) - The San Francisco Glens announced Thursday that forwards Nonso Adimabua and Diogo Baptista have signed their first professional contracts with the San Jose Earthquakes’ MLS NEXT Pro team, The Town FC.
Adimabua and Baptista were stalwarts in attack for the Boys in Green last season as the team finished just one win short of their third consecutive USL League Two playoff berth. With the news, the pair now become the 32nd and 33rd alumni from the Glens’ USL2 team who have gone on to be signed or drafted by a pro club since the program’s start in 2018.
In fact, the very first Glens player to go pro from the USL2 program, current Real Salt Lake defender Sam Junqua, just started his seventh season in Major League Soccer and gave back to his old club by donating 10 tickets so Glens families could watch last Saturday’s RSL vs. Earthquakes game at PayPal Park.
“We’re so happy for Nonso and Diogo to be able to take that next step and realize their dreams as professional soccer players,” said SF Glens Executive Director Mike McNeill. “We take pride in providing an environment where local players have the opportunity to develop and reach their highest potential. To see them join someone like Sam Junqua in the MLS ecosystem is what we envisioned when we first started the USL program, and we wish them all the best.”
Adimabua, 24, played two seasons for the Glens (2023-24) and was a versatile mainstay as a center forward or winger. He earned All-Conference honors all four of his seasons at the University of California, Berkeley (2022-24) and the University of San Francisco (2020-21). In total he scored 10 goals and dished out 11 assists in 58 games (53 starts). A native of Asaba, Nigeria, he spent his high school years in Port St. Lucie, Florida, before coming to California for college.
Baptista, 20, appeared for the Glens in 2023 after a collegiate career at UC Riverside and later, San Jose State. In total, he played in 40 games (32 starts), scoring six goals and amassing three assists in three seasons. Originally from Mountain View, California, he played with the Quakes Academy as a youth.
