Maia Beltran’s goal gave San Francisco the lead early in the second half, but the Glens came up short after the Cargo’s late score.

The San Francisco Glens SC (2-3-1) lost 2-1 to Stockton Cargo SC (3-0-2) on Saturday night at

Knoles Stadium at the University of the Pacific, failing to collect a point after a 90th-minute winner from the hosts. San Francisco’s loss to Stockton was the first in the Glens’ USL W League history as they remain without a road victory in 2025.

All three goals Saturday came in the second half following a scoreless first period.

Sending away Stockton’s attacks to start the second stanza, San Francisco countered successfully, leading to a clean look from the top of the box for Maia Beltran. Beltran corralled the ball and slotted it into the upper-right corner of the goal to put the visitors ahead 1-0 and collect her second score of the season.

The Cargo responded moments later, as an Alexis Pashales through ball in the 53rd minute found its way to a wide-open Maleah Evans, who scored and tied the match at one goal each.

Then, in the 90th minute, Stockton’s Evans returned to favor to Pashales, as the former streaked up the left-wing to find the latter in front of the goal. Pashales then pushed the ball across the goalline for the game-winning score.

In the first half, the Glens’ Alana Owens utilized crafty footwork in the 12th minute to juke her way past her Cargo defender on the right wing and venture towards the goal, allowing her to fire a shot on frame and earn the visitors a corner kick.

Owens recorded two goals and one assist in 16 starts in her 2024 sophomore season at Austin Peay University; now transferring to the University of North Alabama for the upcoming campaign, she has been an offensive force for San Francisco thus far, entering Saturday with three goals in her previous two matches.

Following a hydration break amidst triple-digit temperatures, Stockton continued to threaten. The Glens turned away multiple crosses and goalkeeper Bianca Dominguez made an outstanding leaping save on a shot from the Cargo’s Taylor Curtis in the 33rd minute to keep the match level.

San Francisco got a great chance on goal in the 41st minute, as Emmie Ennis – making her 2025 W League debut Saturday – sliced inside the penalty area and passed the ball to Beltran. Beltran’s shot was then saved, initially denying her a goal before she converted early in the second half, and the match went into halftime tied 0-0.

San Francisco plays next this coming Wednesday at Treasure Island Stadium, hosting the California Storm in pursuit of a third-straight home win to open the season. Kickoff is at 2 PM.
