Isaiah Thomas and Adrian Guzman Jr. both scored as the hosts collected a point Sunday.

San Francisco Glens SC (6-2-4, second in the Nor Cal Division) drew with crossbay rivals Project 51O (3-3-6, fifth in the Nor Cal Division) 2-2 at Treasure Island on Sunday, ending level in a critical match in the 2025 USL League Two playoff race.

Sunday’s match was also the final regular season fixture for the League Two Glens in their inaugural campaign at Treasure Island, as San Francisco outscored opponents 15-6 en route to a 4-1-2 record in seven home contests.

Even for most of the first half, the Glens’ pressure allowed the home side to open the scoring in the 37th minute.

Attacker Isaiah Thomas – scorer of the first-ever goal at Treasure Island in a 3-0 victory against Monterey Bay FC II on May 18 – pressed the ball up the right wing, laying it off to his UC Berkeley teammate Adrian Guzman Jr.

His fellow Golden Bear then fired a shot on goal, and after Project 51O keeper Jack Chapman saved the initial attempt with his left foot, the ball deflected right back to Thomas, who slotted in the score to put San Francisco ahead 1-0.

The rising junior Thomas has appeared in 26 matches for Berkeley in two seasons, hails from Schwülper, Germany, and played for the youth teams of multiple German clubs prior to coming stateside.

After the break, visiting striker Saber Charif responded, scoring in the 58th minute and evening the match 1-1.

Guzman Jr. then collected a goal of his own in the 66th minute to regain the lead for the Glens,  working his way through multiple Project 51O defenders before striking and scoring from close range with his left foot.

However, the advantage would not hold.

Charif scored his second goal of the match in the 78th minute, giving the striker two goals in the contest and evening the score at 2-2, where it would stay through 90 minutes. San Francisco and Project 51O also drew in the teams’ first matchup this season, tying 1-1 on June 11 in Alameda.

The Glens are currently in position for the final Nor Cal Division playoff spot with two contests remaining, sitting in second place with 22 points through 12 matches played.

Directly behind San Francisco is Almaden FC (19 points in 12 matches), while crosstown rival
SF City FC is in fourth place (18 points in 11 matches played) after a home loss Sunday against Academica FC.

The second leg of the San Francisco Derby this Wednesday will be consequential for the Glens’ postseason chances, as a victory clinches a better finish in the standings than their rivals despite SF City having a match in hand.

Kickoff in the midweek contest from Kezar Stadium is at 7:00 PM.
