2018 Tryouts A Sold Out Success

26 Players Selected To Participate In Intrasquad Scrimmages

Once again, the SF Glens open tryouts was sold out, with over 50 players looking to make it to the next round. The final open tryout was held at Crocker Amazon Soccer Fields, just 1.5 miles away from The Glens' historic Home Field - Boxer Stadium at Balboa Park.

SF Glens Head Coach, Javier Ayala-Hil, commented, "I am very pleased with the turnout at our open tryouts these past two weekends. We had some good players come out and we look forward to further evaluations in selecting our team." 

Added President & GM J. Ramon Estevez, "I think the turnout, with both dates sold out, is reflective of the buzz surrounding our club and the coaching staff we have assembled. We're excited about Coach Ayala-Hil's vision for the team and look forward to seeing the roster start to take shape."

Tuesday morning the team invited nearly 30 players from the 100+ that tried out to participate in two intra-squad scrimmages featuring players from the tryouts, along with special invitees from the SF Glens SC - SFSFL team.

The SF Glens open their season May 5th at Boxer Stadium against the Santa Cruz Breakers. Their schedule includes some mouth-watering match including a local derby against SF City FC as well as other notable games with Fresno FC and Ventura County Fusion.

About the Premier Development League

A part of the United Soccer Leagues, which also operates the Division II USL, the newly-announced USL Division III and Super Y League, the PDL has served as the proven stepping-stone for aspiring professionals.

Nearly 70 percent of all MLS SuperDraft selections since 2010 have PDL experience, including a total of 59 alums chosen in 2017.
