Respected Skyline coach joins Javier Ayala-Hil's squad as assistant

The San Francisco Glens received a boost in leadership for their first Premier Development League (PDL) season with the hiring of Gabe Saucedo as assistant coach.

"I’m excited to be included as part of the staff for the SF Glens’ inaugural season in the PDL," Saucedo said. "The league has a long and rich history of providing their players an opportunity to develop and showcase their skills. I’m very much looking forward to working with quality coaches and dedicated and committed players."

Saucedo has been a fixture in the local soccer scene, most recently as the men's head coach at Skyline College, where his high-energy style has rejuvenated the program since his arrival in 2016.

"We are excited to add Gabe on our technical staff," SF Glens head coach Javier Ayala-Hil said. "He has had a lot of success at the community college level but more importantly his approach to the game aligns with our style of play. It’s a great fit for the Glens’ PDL team."

Saucedo came to Skyline from City College of San Francisco, where he accumulated multiple Coast Conference titles and state playoff berths as both a men’s assistant coach (2005-08) and women’s head coach (2009-16). Before entering the college ranks, he also coached in The City at his alma mater, St. Ignatius College Preparatory (2002-04), and Loyola High School in Los Angeles (2004-05).

"We're pleased to add another quality, local coach to our staff," team president and general manager J. Ramon Estevez said. "Gabe's had a history of success at City College and now at nearby Skyline College. His addition further highlights our commitment to working with the local soccer community."

The SF Glens open their season May 5th at Boxer Stadium against the Santa Cruz Breakers. Their schedule includes some mouth-watering matches, including a local derby against SF City FC as well as other notable games with Fresno FC and Ventura County Fusion.
