Plantinos notches brace as Glens march toward next Saturday’s season finale

SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Glens erased an early deficit with three unanswered goals to beat the visiting SoCal Seahorses 3-1 at Boxer Stadium on Friday.

There were no shortage of heroes for the City Bhoys, as forward Ranier Plantinos notched a first-half brace thanks to assists from Marcus Simmons in the 29th minute and Andrew Paoli in the 41st. Diego Lopez added an insurance goal in the 91st minute after a keen buildup from Simmons and new addition Francisco Perez to give the Glens a much-needed three points.

Glens goalkeeper Andrew Konstantino, who shared Man of the Match honors with Plantinos, shut down the Seahorse attack with five saves after an early penalty kick in the 16th minute gave the visitors a 1-0 advantage.

San Francisco now look ahead to a derby with rivals SF City FC at Kezar Stadium on Thursday night, as the Glens aim to avenge a 2-1 defeat at Boxer Stadium earlier in the season.

Next Home Game

After Thursday's derby on the road, the Glens close out the season at home on Saturday, July 14, when they take on Fresno FC U23 at Boxer Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.

It will be Fan Appreciation Day and SF Glens Evolution Day. The team will honor the SFGE youth coaches and players, and for the fans, there will be several prize giveaways, including free tickets to Fight Night at the SF Fairmont later that night, courtesy of Hard Hitta Boxing Promotions.
